Ukba ?

UKBA , should be more like UK Gestapo Bullies !
Comi9ng home through Dover for Xmas with Family i thought i had landed in a new UK country , pulled into shed for a "search " of car and were treated like criminals ! questions like ......
Whats this beer for ? ( 120 bottles )
Are these your cigarettes ? ( 600 B&H )
Where have you been ? (Europe )
How long you staying for ( in my own country ? )
When are you travelling again ? ( How would i know ? )
How can you afford to travel abroad ? ( Mind your own business ! )
Are you Pensioners ? ( No, Church of England )
and on and on and on !
Tried to make us "confess " the cigarettes were for resale , the beer would be resold as well , told them firmly , but politley , to take a look at the goods and not be so stupid as to the intent !
Was told " We will let you go , this time , but you will be on our computer records in future if you decide to travel again !
What a Crock ! they really do need to be taught some manners and retrained in the duties of a Customs Officer !
A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
Whats Your Excuse ?

Pretty confusing, why would the UKBA be intrested in your beer and cigarettes?

Their function is immigration and border control, surely HM Customs would be more likely to ask those sort of questions?

Customs are now under the control of the Home Office, and are now known as Uk Border Force

    Really? When did that happen?

They still seem to be under the control of the Treasury as the Minister responsible is David Gauke MP, (Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury and Minister responsible for HMRC).

I was under the impression that the UKBA took over some aspects of HMRC's duties:
DSO 3 - Reduce the risk of the illicit import and export of material which might harm the UK’s physical and social well-being
In achieving this DSO, HMRC’s key outcomes are to:

maintain the level of disruption of the attempted import and export of illicit drugs, products of animal origin, and other illicit goods
contribute to Government objectives on counter terrorism by maintaining the level of operational performance in screening traffic entering the UK for radiation
To help the department make sure it’s on track to achieve this objective, HMRC will be setting Key Performance Indicators* for the following core areas of its business:

    seizures of heroin and cocaine
seizures of products of animal origin
level of interventions in support of Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA)
screening of traffic entering the UK for radiation
*DSO 3 responsibilities are expected to transfer to the UKBA in due course. The indicators may subsequently be adjusted or expanded with the formal establishment of the UKBA.

It seems HMRC don't realise they are now part of UKBA, no mention in their website

You quoted from the duties listed for HMRC ;)
Which was my point, I'm sure it was more likely to have been a Customs Officer who queried cigs and booze (excise evasion being their job) rather than a UKBA Immigration Officer.

At least it has been, every time I have entered the country...

UKBA officers preform frontline border protection duties, and some have been given the powers of a customs officer.
It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

Exactly.. Thats why i picked Border and frontier protection. Is that not exactly what the UK border force do isnt it?

Im no expert on this only asking

They didnt bat an eyelid over the 2 illegal immigrants hanging off your roofrack though?

Why is it only the ports doing this, you dont have any problems usually with the airports, as long as you are within your personal quota.
