Thoughts on T-Mobile's generosity??

Hi, my current 18 month contract on T-Mobile is up for renewal/upgrade on January 8th, i have a Blackberry 8900 and pay £35 a month for 700mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet/Blackberry services.
I've got my sights set on the new iPhone and wondered what your thoughts/experiences are on network's (T-Mobile in particular) upgrade deals for their customers, as i've been with them for 18 months will they give me a better deal on the iPhone?

The iPhone plan i'm looking at is the 16GB, 24months with 600mins, unlimited texts (with the Flex booster) and 500MB of internet. The price for the phone is £99. £35 a month, what i pay now.
To be fair, compared to other networks, this is a great deal, i just wondered what perks (if any) i'll get for being a current customer. I'd like your thoughts before i barter with them in a couple of weeks.

If not, i'm looking into going through buymobilephones.net with Orange on a contract identical to mine now with a new Blackberry Curve 3G and a free 32GB iPod Touch.
Would you say this is already better value than any iPhone deal?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do you want the BB (and iPod Touch)? If so, go for that one, I'd personally go for the iPhone 4 (well, I'd pick an Android phone over both, but out of the phones you're looking at I'd take the i4)

I'd say ring up T-Mobile and ask for a PAC code, explain the deal you're getting with Orange and they'll probably give you the iPhone for free, or knock some money off the monthly cost. If you need to pay the cost for the iPhone, you can recycle your old phone and put the money towards the handset cost.

As for networks, I just switched to T-Mobile and I seem to get HSDPA (3G+) signal all over. They've merged with Orange now, so I believe when you can't get a good T-Mobile signal, you use the Orange network anyway

  • Thanks for your reply. I suppose it will boil down to what T-Mobile offer me on the iPhone. I'm hoping to get the deal reduced from 24 to 18months too.

If you want an 18-month contract be prepared to pay for the actual phone

  • T-Mobile wouldn't budge on the iPhone contracts. Looks like i'm off to 3.
