New Laptop very slow

Hi

Ive just bought a new laptop and it is really slow. Im not in a great area for broadband (too far from exchange etc etc), but I havent changed provider since I got the new laptop, so I dont think its anything to do with the broadband.

The problem is when I have more than one page open at once. Im running windows 7 (rather than vista before) and it just sticks when Im trying to go up and down the screen. Im not doing anything too compicated, but its REALLY annoying!

Ive downloaded Malwarebytes and there are no infected files, so Im not sure what to try next?

Ive got avira running, but Mcafee trial keeps popping up which I just close, but I dont know if this means its running in the background? Could this be anything to do with it?

Any help really appreciated!

I dont see anything wrong with microsoft security essentials on windows 7, I would download that, remove all other security stuff and put it on.

Use it myself and have tested the machine several times and it stays clean

Use Decrapifier to remove all the pre-installed rubbish.

Like Hammy I use decrap, even on a brand new, never before switched on, new out of the box machine !

The big box shifters and OEM stuff comes constipated with so much pre loaded carp it sets off the methane meter in the workshop every time you take one out of the box.

One more for this. You could also try CCleaner.

Uninstalling McAfee:

Windows Vista \ 7

1. Click Start, Search, type Programs and Features, and click Go.
2. Double-click Programs and Features.
3. Select the McAfee SecurityCenter product.
4. Click Uninstall and follow the steps provided.

Step 2 - Download and run MCPR.exe

1. Download the removal tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
2. Click Save and save the file to a folder on your computer.
3. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.
4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed.
5. Double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.

NOTE: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.

6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.
Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted.
