Hi several reasons why this could happen

    1) Provisioning one of you may have a 2G sim and the other a 3G Sim

    2) Handset Settings one could be set to dual mode (3g and 2g the other to 2g only)

    3) 3G and 2G coverage are not the same type of coverage. 3G coverage is like a balloon shrinking the more people on 3G the coverage shrinks could have no more capicity on the RNC (Mast)
  • wow - seriously impressed!! Thanks very much for answering me especially in such an informed way, it is really appreciated.
  • Serious question as you didn't mention it in your opening post but are you both on the same network ?
Maybe worth switching sims & see if the g's switch phones ? that would indicate a sim problem . If the 3g stays on your phone but with hubbys sim then it is a phone setting .
Process of illimination I fear .
