just to let you know was speaking to o2 today when changing a somplicity tariff was saying i dont take iphone overseas as heard horror stories about data roaming charges...
there is now a £40 cap then person consistantly gets texts....
All networks have to cap data charges at €50 within the EU which is around £40, O2 have simply opted to extend that to the rest of the world too. You'll get a warning text message at £20 then another once you reach £40 then you'll be allowed to continue using data until you reach 50MB. You'll be charged £3 / Megabyte within the EU and £6 / Megabyte outside.
It's still pretty expensive in my opinion, I just wish one of the networks would bring in some sort of affordable way to access data outside the UK, but I have a feeling that's still quite a way off because the networks themselves do get charged quite a lot for data and they're forced to credit back millions of pounds worth of data charges a year due to people not doing their research before travelling and kicking up a fuss when they're asked to pay for what they've used0 -

I was just about to post that I noticed this price cap on my account., I don't having roaming data issues anyhoo, but at least we won't see sorry tales of O2 customers having alledgedly ridiculous bills after a trip abroad0 -
That cap doesn't work
My bill was £80 when we got back from a week in the Canaries, and £120 when we got back from a week in New York. All Data

Sounds like you, or somebody on your behalf opt'd you out of the data cap, there's an option to go for the heavy user bolt on, which will cap you at £120 or you can opt for the cap to be removed completely. That or you got these charges before they introduced this cap.0 -
Nope, I didn't opt out, first time it happened I complained and they gave me my money back. Second time I couldn't be bothered.
Exactly the same happened to my husband aswell.0
