Saving money in 2011 - 3 get the thumbs up!

I don't want to get into a which mobile phone company is best argument, but my mantra for 2011 is save money.

I called 3 today as I have been with them on a £15 a month contract (250mins and 50 texts) reduced to £12 for the last 18 months (actually ran out in Sept) but I've waited for a better deal to come along. Im a really low user with an average of 110mins per month and very little texts and internet. I did fancy a Windows 7 phone but didn't want to pay for a top range package so was going to move Vodafone on their cheapy HTC 7 Trophy phone at £25 per month for 24 months with £90 cashback. Called 3 for my PAC and they offered me a further £5 discount, 5000 3to3 mins (my wife is also on 3) and 2 gig internet per month for the all in total of £7 including VAT to start 6th January for a 12month period.

So although I don't get the fancy Windows 7 phone. Ive managed to save £60 going into 2011 and not broke any of the golden rules of moneysaving.
Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. Car finance at 23. Car repossessed at 24. Rock bottom at 25. Learnt my lesson 26-33. Now 34 with a mortgage on an affordable house, a car paid for with cash and a bank account in credit. I learnt the hard way.

    Very good :money: :j:j:j.

I also fancy a modern phone but couldn't face a higher monthly bill. Contract ends Feb or thereabouts so will see what I can get :D
