hmmm - The only thing I could find is
WPA-PSK Security Encryption - then (what I presume is) the passcode? I'm sure that's the same as is on the back of the router and the printer didn't accept it.

It has a couple of LAN addresses and then goes onto wireless network connections.

The LAN has a default gateway address of 192.xxx.x.x
But the wireless one is blank - is it then the same as the LAN one?
When I put this into the browser it asks me for login and password to BSkyB blah blah - is this the same as my account login to Sky?

    user is admin

    Password is sky

Are you sure that your USB port is functioning?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Yes - I did leave the USB cable out of the printer till it got most of the way through install, then it told me to connect the cable - which I did - then it said that since I had no printer connected I could continue with the install - but couldn't test the connection. But it was connected! I did finish off the install - then went back in and it still didn't recognise it as being connected.

Do you think there is something wrong with the USB cable? It's the same cable as I had been using for my old deskjet.

It's the same USB port as my old deskjet was on - but I have tried all 3 of them with the same results.

After connecting the cable and switching the printer on, did Windows show new hardware found in the taskbar?

You could use their online chat

  • Unlikely to be a USB cable issue, try borrowing one for testing. Still may be a driver issue. re SKY wireless router http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/view-wireless.html . You may need to reset password to default. Plus if you manage to reset the wireless security, please please please write down the info and keep it safe. This kind of thing helps SKY help lines and similar make lots of money on expensive help calls.

An icon - which I think is new - HP Digital Imaging Monitor has appeared. Which takes me to the HP Solution Centre - so maybe I've started this icon - when I was trying to troubleshoot my lack of connection to the printer?
The Instant Chat - can I use it - it is only giving me an option to say I am from the US?

There wasn't any real instructions to follow - just a couple of 'next', 'next' , choose either wireless or USB connected - buttons. Then it said to connect the USB cable and it didn't accept it -but concluded the install anyway.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times now.
