Trying to install new printer - having probs

I got a new HP Photosmart AIO printer. I don't know my WPA password so have opted to use my USB connection rather than wireless option.
However - during my install - when it asks me to connect my USB cable - it doesn't seem to recognise it - and says there is no printer connected.
Also - if I just try and let my laptop (XP) autodetect me plugging in the USB cable it gives me an error USB device not recognized.

Guessing you need correct software driver for XP. You need to be more specific about model ,A10 covers several HP printers. Have a look here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?tmp_renderType=findModel&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&docname=bpy210160

I did an internal test page and it says HP Photosmart B110 All In One Series. I used the Install CD that it came with - but I don't recall it asking me which Windows version I was using.0

It has a couple of LAN addresses and then goes onto wireless network connections.
The LAN has a default gateway address of 192.xxx.x.x
But the wireless one is blank - is it then the same as the LAN one?
When I put this into the browser it asks me for login and password to BSkyB blah blah - is this the same as my account login to Sky?0 -
financequest - do you think this is diff to the CD that came with the printer - should I de install before running this new one - or just install it over the top?0

You can try that. I am assuming the CD/DVD includes correct driver for your version of XP, else download from HP site. Last time I downloaded similar software, it included a setup program ( typically SETUP.EXE or INSTALL.EXE ). I simply ran this program and followed the onscreen instructions. You may have leave the printer USB disconnected to printer until instructions prompt you to attach.0
