seasons greetings all,
what's a reasonable time for a bank to take on refunding money taken from account even though the atm didn't dispense the money ??
it happened on the 16th dec, and i reported it to them on the 18th as advised in the branch.
it was a santander account but the atm was halifax !!
thanks

Silly question but why did you not report on the day it happened?0 -
What did the bank say they will do next?
Has or is the transaction appearing on your statement as it may of dropped off by now. Given current time of year you may get a delayed response.0 -

I'd expect a resolution within 2 weeks.
May be add a few days on for Christmas.
How much did you ask for?
How much did the ATM give you?
What notes did it give you?
Have you checked that your account hasn't automatically corrected itself?0 -

reported it over the phone on 18th dec, just said it should go back in soon, transaction still on my account yes!!

The new Banking code says you should be refunded almost immediately until the investigation is complete but we are talking about Santander here!0

i left it 48hrs as advised then reported it!
Odd response from the bank I would say, but I would be standing on their doorstep tomorrow morning asking where my money is.0 -

Because your bank has to raise a claim, usually electronically, with the atm owner these cases can take 3-6 weeks in my experience, seldom less than 3 and i've never seen one in 10 days sadly. Often it depends on if the person you reported to raised the claim properly.Union official.
CiPD qualified.
Anything I post is solely MY OPINION. It never constitutes legal, financial or collective bargaining advice. I may tell you based on information given how I might approach an employment dispute case, but you should always seek advice from your own Union representative. If you don't have one, get one!0
