if so do get someone mechanicly minded and a good eye to have a look over, test drive it thouroughly not a 2 min jobbie to the end of road and back and if it does feel right to you walk away.
Yes.
And I don't know anyone around here who is mechanically minded. No friends, no family and the garage OH uses isn't open until January.

Thank you all for your advice.
then the best advice is, 1.do hpi. 2. never go alone!! 3.drive it around listen for anything that sounds wrong squeeking knocking grinding wrattling, test all electrics, take for a decent drive getting through all the gears, look at the engine any fresh oil leaking from the engine. how much fuel it used on your test run does it feeling nippy or sluggish, ask the opinion of a friend how he she thinks its running. look at the mot, look at any reciepts that came with it, dont be affraid to ask the seller awkward questions like why he isnt reg keeper how long he had it why is he/she selling it, get a bill of sale make sure he fill out the v5c and give you your slip check his address is cosure dated and signed with a valid telephone number on. if he starts getting reluctant and you feel your being lied to its better to walk away.
