  • Don't know if you are near a Vue cinema but on the weekend and up to the 5th Jan they run kids club where the film costs 95p per person, usually on in the morning so you could do that and then food after.

Why not just spend a bit more, do the build a bear party, and then have a buffet at home or a mcdonalds? for the sake of twenty quid she may as well do something she wants to do rather than a cheaper alternative that she doesn't really want to do!! why not tell her she will get a slightly cheaper birthday present if she wants the party?

Can you or do you have any friends who are good with hair and nails? The girls could come round for a 'makeover' party and have their hair put up / adorned with some cheap hair bits (must be lots of sparkly hair bits on offer post Xmas) and their nails painted. They could all bring a couple of changes of clothes, put a sheet up against a wall in your living room / bedroom and take some digital photos that you could print out and they could take home (or get printed cheaply online and let them have at a later date).

And then in keeping with the 'young ladies' they have been transformed into they could have 'afternoon tea' of tiny sandwiches, cakes and biscuits. Did something similar for DD2 a few years back and they loved it

I think this is a really good idea but to make it a bit more 'grown up' you could serve mocktails - and maybe even let them mix their own concoctions.
  • My daughter has recently been to her friends 10th Birthday Party. It was a Scuba Diving party - they all loved it ! Not sure how much that must have cost though...more than £50 I suspect.
  • Is there a pottery painting place near you? They could all choose an item to decorate then go home for party food?
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I think build a bear parties are pretty costly. My daughter is attending one next week and i'm having to send her with 20 quid to spend on a bear outfit!

DD had a BaB party in the summer for her 7th birthday, and I wouldn't have dreamt of expecting the guests or their parents to pay towards it!!

    Sorry, OT a bit :o

Depends where you live I suppose but last year we went to the water park at Alton Towers. They all had a great time and still say it's the best party they've been to. Didn't bother with the expensive party package, just paid the admission, stayed about six hours and went to Mcdonalds. Can be done for £50.

This year we went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for a 'winter weekend'. Again did it for a tenner.
  • My niece is nine today she had sleep over party with four friends. They decorated and help make there own cupcakes, they did foot and hand print pictures smothered in glitter. My sister in law took them to dvd rent out place let them all choose and got loads of munchies. Inbetween eating watching dvds they played on the wii for good few hours apparently.
she is taking them bowling this afternoon she searched internet managed to find money off voucher, they are all having mcd`s happy meals after.

how about a homemade high tea
it need not be expensive either, you could set a smart dress code then maybe get things like cake stands and teacups cheap from charity shops then do the usual scones, cucumber sandwiches, cakes etc
