  • I would recommend Lenovo to anyone...I've had mine for 5 years, and it's been bashed about no end, used for things it was never meant for (gaming, DVD's, etc - it's actually a business laptop) and has withstood it all well. I'm sending it into retirement now (still works, but getting a bit slow), but have my eye on lenovo for a new laptop. Can't recommend them highly enough.

  • Good computers, but dreadful service when they go wrong.

mine was back and forth 4 times , s they just replaced the m/b each time and sent it back out untested. On the 4th time they actually fixed it by testing the ram ( an easy test to perform) it lasted a few weeks then the m/b did fail.

in total in took 8 months to sort it out and i ended up going to Watchdog.Within 7 days i had 2 turn up. neither worked . I decided to fix them myself and forget about the remaining warranty ,i wish i had done this in the first place but you assume they know what they are doing plus it was only 2 months old when it first went wrong

Now they are fixed they are very good machines.

others may have had good expeiences when their laptops went wrong , i certainly didnt
  • bearing in mind the review on pcpro was done nearly a year ago when it first came out and it didnt have some of the features it has now,it was up against sony and acer higher end laptops. compare it to the laptops in its price range now and theres very few that can match it imo.

We have used Lenovo for business laptops and they're pretty good. This one isn't in the Thinkpad series. They are bomb-proof and I agree with the poster who said they're better than Sony etc. Indeed, Sony are not considered the best of laptops amongst techies.

I just spotted this other one for £335, after £100 cashback from HP.

It has less memory, but is Intel Core 2 Duo and with Windows 7 Professional it might be better for business users.

They also have a small HP Proliant server for £183, with £100 cashback. No operating system, but a good base machine for Linux I think.
  • It won't let me order online now. I am not sure if that means it's sold out - it doesn't say

Yes, I also tried to order but none left at the moment. I did telephone to ask if they were expecting more in, and apparently they are, but cannot confirm when.
