What food to buy ahead of the VAT increase
Comments

Im just buying lots of what i need / use when its on offer . As others have said prices have spiralled already ....or if the price has stayed about the same the weight / volume has reduced .
Sorry but I think it will get worse and we will be scouring all the shops to find the best deals and mark downs like never before .
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY ... I think we will need it :eek:0 -
its not just that its also how items are packed,
so many things i have noticed are smaller or are less in the packet
started actually weighting and counting stuff out at mo
it works out an average of £12, 50 per £500 you spend, this isnt just food this is everything not to mention fuel going up 2p as well
to me that little increase is a lot overall
then you got to take into account imports the global weather damaged wheat and rice crops this year putting flour and rice up quite a lot as well as coffee
asda are pulling a fast one, brought a packet of there own brand chocolate peanuts from there last night, it was advertised as a rollback to a £1, noticed on sel it said 250g(40p per 100g), but the packets are actually 185g, i could not be bothered to try and find a member of staff to question it, but makes you wonder if this is what they do with most of there rollback stuff:eek:Take every day as it comes!!0 -

i followed your idea of a january box from october which i thought was a great idea although not everyone did but mine is stocked with toilet rolls on offer the toothpaste when 17p extra tins of soups beans tuna we like a lot of tuna and so do the cats. so i wont be doing an extra shop for these products now before the vat increase.
I decided to follow that line too - got loads in and only stuff I need to get is fresh basics...At least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0 -
