This thread is odd. I agree that maybe the OP's father overreacted but I still think it's rude to cold call on Christmas day.0

I agree. A sad state of affairs in this once profoundly Christian Country. But now due to this PC nonsense, the rights of Ethnic Minorities, women and Homosexuals come before that of Christians.
Do you still go to church then?
i know i do and the numbers are down year on year apart from at Christmas time.
so for all those who appear to be intolerant of other faiths and such like do you all still go to church and are you all still practising Christians?
Or did you know we were all Catholics before that and pagans way before that..
but dont let any of that get into your rant just because the country ahs changed faiths/beliefs many times over the years it cant happen again can it"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Can someone explain in a calm fashion why they get so bothered by this and can't just politley say "Not interested"?And if, you know, your history...0

I think "generally" the reason it irks some people, is because were they even slightly "interested", they would have shopped for it themselves. Nobody needs a tap on the door to be reminded of things that they might just want. I dont recall Tesco or Asda ever tapping on doors just in case we forgot the Eggs.
I think in most cases, those of us who have gone to the trouble of notifying these cold callers that we are not interested in the form of a "No Cold Callers" notice, assume this should be sufficient in letting them know. However, it would appear this is not enough, leaving a householder no other option but to make it even clearer to them.
Nobody likes nor wants to spend their day going backwards n forwards opening the front door, just to say "No thank you!", others may say "its only two minutes of your time", forgetting to note that it is indeed two minutes of OUR time, of which we should be entitled to use in our own way without any interruptions from dyslexic junk salesmen. Who are so desperate to sell such tat, they are reduced to knocking on doors uninvited, in order to find a buyer.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I really don't think Religious faith's or the banning of Christmas, is even slightly related to a Door to Door Salesman.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I had a Sky salesperson call one day asking me if I was interested in signing up to Sky..I replied "I take it you didn't see the Sky dish on the front of my home?" to which he mumbled & went away...0
