Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
After my accident recently, I was taken to hospital (wont mention which one) and while I was sat in A&E waiting to be seen there was a screen in front of us with various bits of info on - waiting times etc, but as it ticked over there was not only an advert for one of these companies on the screen but also around the waiting room!!! talk about ambulance chasing...
I'd never thought about it like that mikey. Presumably the paying out claims dept and the outsourcing to claims management dept are separate and don't see eye to eye...0 -
Manchester Royal Infirmary has adverts similar adverts for 'The Manchester Claims Service' or something like that plastered all over the place. Takes the p!ss. It does irritate me when these shysters advertise themselves as a public service, almost like the police. They're nothing but immoral lawyers (if that) out to make a quick buck.

Everyone says underwriting makes no money anymore, and premiums have to go up to cover all the losses, and it's down to over inflated claims.
Good spin really.
So how else do the insurance companies make the profits they've been announcing recently?
charges for paperwork
charges for change of car, change of address, even a change of tyres recently
commission on hire cars
commission on claim management companies
selling legal protection insurance, (back to the same claim management companies that would do it for free anyway)
selling breakdown insurance.
If you look at Admiral for example, only about 1/5 of their profits actually came from underwriting. Not their core business then anymore.
So they don't really care about how much they pay out in claims, as they can just up the premium, we'll pay as it's compulsory to have it, and we all believe it when they blame these evil claim management companies that they actually get paid by!
This is where legislation is needed.0 -
