Claims Sharks

I recently reported how my son had had a low speed bump involving a chap in a 10 year old Audi who was fine about it all, and going to have it repaired and let my son pay for it direct UNTIL the garage passed this naive chaps details to a claims company who hijacked the claim escalating it to £1800 in repairs and claiming for hire cars, 'soft tissue damage' for driver & passenger, etc.
The same company recently rang my son inquiring about HIS passenger, (his mate), asking if he might also like to make a claim against my sons insurance. My son pointed out that as his mate suffered no injury whatsoever and being an honest type, wouldn't claim. The 'ambulance chaser' then suggested that he could still make a claim, (worth up to two grand), and could split the cash with my son! This is disgusting behaviour from a so called legitimate company! These companies should be investigated and closed down instead of being allowed to prosper and add to the spiraling cost of insurance for us all.

£1800 is about right, they know the insurance companies don't fight these claim unless they total more than £2000.

Bunch of vultures, scum of the earth!

I completely agree. Wasn't there some debate in parliament about this recently, and the banning of claims management companies was suggested?

Could you PM the name of the firm to me, OP?

I just wonder if it's the same bunch that are trying to claim from my insurer.
  • Yep scum, but then there's a lot of scum about who see easy money for nothing from using such companies.

I blame the insurance companies too, whilst they bend over and don't take these swine on it will just escalate.
If the insurance companies took them to the cleaners for costs and damages they wouldn't be quite so keen, yes i know a pipe dream.

The insurance companies are keen to use claim management companies, in return for a commission, then complain the claim management companies inflate claims and are the cause of insurance premium rises.
They support them, they're not going to upset them.

After my accident recently, I was taken to hospital (wont mention which one) and while I was sat in A&E waiting to be seen there was a screen in front of us with various bits of info on - waiting times etc, but as it ticked over there was not only an advert for one of these companies on the screen but also around the waiting room!!! talk about ambulance chasing...
