Glad your kitty has returned! To say it is worth getting him microchipped is an understatement! When I lived at home we had a tom cat who constantly kept getting his collar off so in the end we never put one on him so it is definitely worth getting your little ones microchipped

My cat is an indoor cat - he just refuses to go outside, and in a way I am relieved as I would be worrying about him everytime he wandered off!The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -

The power of the microchip cannot be over-estimated! See the following link for a heartwarming story....

Kitty Came Home!
I'm glad to hear your little tiger came back. He must have had quite the adventure.
Agreed! Even tho Daisy is a house/lap/bed/comfy cat, she's chipped,as was Orbit, just in case. Best £12 I ever spent.
Glad Kitty came home,he was missing hugs n kisses....0 -
I'm really pleased for you that he has returned safe and well but have to agree with becky4131 that he shouldn't really be going out just yet.
As an un-neutered male the urge to find a female will soon be too strong to resist and he may wander further and get involved in fights or even wander too far and not be able to find his way home. Microchips are fantastic but they only work if someone takes them to a vet to be scanned so you can't rely on a chip to stop a cat wandering and getting lost, he'll be much less likely to wander once he's been neutered.
There are so many benefits of neutering, not least the fact that if he's un-neutered he will be adding to the massive population of homeless cats. So many rescue centres are full and cannot take in new urgent cases because there are just not enough homes.
Sorry if this comes across preachy but it's something I feel really strongly about. If finances are an issue you can often get vouchers from Cats protection for reduced cost neutering when he's old enough. At 4 months old he really shouldn't be going outside yet, usually advise people to keep them in until 6 months old and neutered. An unneutered male is more likely to wander further looking for female.0 -

What a relief to have him back,i was honestly beginning to fear the worst. I shall be buying them collars today as i have learnt my lesson lol. Thanks to all of you for your kind words x
This is the first time I've seen this thread and as I love animals (especially cats) I couldn't help but read.
I'm so glad he's come home, it's such a worry when they go walkabout.
Mine are all curled up on the bed (better check!)
Thanks for telling us, it's nice to have a happy ending.0 -
Also regarding micro chipping, a lot of people can be put off by the cost as vets can charge £25 a cat to have them chipped, and when you have 2 kittens it gets ridiculously expensive when you also have to factor in inoculations.
Local cat rescues (and other places) will often do microchipping pets for £10 and come to your home as well to do it. I only found out about a local rescue nr me that did this after I'd had my vets do 2 of my cats for £50
A few years back I had to call the RSPCA about an ill, stray cat and the woman who came to collect the cat said she did chipping for a tenner too. Worth investigating if you haven't already had your kittens chipped to save yourself around 30 quid! 0 -
So glad he's back home! Can I just add, along with microchipping and safety collars with tags/id barrels; it's a good idea to have a picture of your pet stored on your computer, and some A4 polypockets/ lever arch pockets for making posters.
Our Bonny cat was missing for 3 days - and it was only because a man in our street had noticed the 'Lost Cat' signs up on every lamp post that he realised the faint noise at the end of his garden was a cat.
She was about 40 feet up a tree and had spent the whole time in temperatures of around -10. What is really incredibly stupid is that she's been back twice and stuck for 2 days at a time!0
