  • What tariff were you on before energysmart? I know you said you don't recall the name but what kind of tariff was it? If it was online or some other kind of reduced rate then this could account for the difference.

I'm not sure. I'm going to ring them.

I think I saw the 'save £££s' and got drawn in.

Greenfield, Energysmart is Not a tariff, its a method of paying for your electricity as you go.

British Gas offers Energy Smart with a number of tariffs, the cheapest being the online ones.

If you are on the Standard electricity tariff then you are on the most expensive tariff they do.

I'm on Click 6 with Energysmart and pay 19.592p for primary units and 7.741p for secondary ones.

    These are the current ones:-

Is this not available? Any suggestions on the best?

Well if you bothered to look at my link above , then you would see that Online saver 3 was their cheapest tarrif with energysmart.

Of course if you were to use a comparison site you'd probably find cheaper tariffs still.

At the moment you are paying at least 30% too much.

If you are on standard check the online accounts. Some can be used with energy smart and some not.

You were getting higher than usual bills.
You had been sent an energy monitor but had not connected it up.
You did not seem to know what you were paying for your electricity.
I think we have established that you are on a Standard Tariff.
If you are now shopping around I think you've been helped.

I've no idea why you're trying to be be rude. It's not really what I expect on a community site like this.

I'll admit my cluelessness and lack of preparation to my post but, hey, I've had some good advice for which I have thanked everybody.
