20/09/2010 I submitted a reading and my meter was at 27445.
Since then it has gone up by 1615 - it's currently at 29070, averaging 538 units a month.
For a whole year including your electric heating in the winter and electrically heated water year round that's not bad at 5200kw/year. The average without heating and hot water is 3300kw/year.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

It's currently ticking along at around .24p an hour, with the dehumidifier on, my Mac, a host of lights, and a stereo.
Sound about right?0 -

How did you set up your meter if you don't know the unit cost?
Assuming a unit cost of 10p/kwh, your 0.24p/hr equates to 24w ... well done! If you meant 24p/hr, then that equates to 2.4kw, which is a hefty usage if the kettle, immersion or any other heaters aren't on, or normal if any one of those is on.
If you have kept warm through this cold spell mainly by heating with electricity, then your bill is no surprise.
When you find the cost per unit of your tariff and find out whether or not your on economy seven, people will be able to give you more advice0 -
Indeed, to find out whats what we need to know what watts you are using.
For some reason you are concentrating on cost not consumption. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

The website told me to put in 16p as the unit cost per kwh (on the meter). It's currently ticking away with not much going on at 9p p/h.
I used my multifuel stove for the main heating - it kicks out an awful lot of heat but doesn't (sadly) heat water or central heating.Er...0 -
What tariff were you on before energysmart? I know you said you don't recall the name but what kind of tariff was it? If it was online or some other kind of reduced rate then this could account for the difference.Mixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0
