What can I do...?

Hi!

I listed an item which sold a couple of weeks ago. Including postage the payment is less than £5, so it's not a huge sale, lol. I recived an email from the buyer within a couple of days, stating that he'd pay by cheque soon. I left it until 7 days after the auction and sent him a friendly reminder of how much I was waiting on, and the address to send the cheque to.

A couple of days later, I recieved a snotty email back saying that he didn't have my address and that would be the reason why I hadn't recieved the cheque, and that he's emailed me loads asking for my address and I hadn't replied. But now he had my address I would get payment soon. Obviously, I'd never recieved any of these emails so sent one back saying sorry, I hadn't got any emails off him and that ebay should have passed on my address like it did with my other buyers that bought items ending on the same day.

It's now nearly 2 weeks after the auction ended and I haven't recieved any payment. I've looked at his feedback and he is a newbie ebayer with only a couple of feebacks, but one of them is a negative saying basically he's done this before, and then he's left them a bad feedback saying they are a bad seller and rip off etc.

What can I do now? I'm prepared to wait a little longer, but wouldn't be happy for nothing to come of this and me be left with a negative. I'm not really bothered by negatives, though I don't have any... yet, lol. But if they are not planning on sending the money, can they still leave me a neagtive? Thanks!

Open a non paying bidder dispute.

It sounds like he's a time waster and isn't going to pay.

There's a chance he won't respond to the dispute - if he doesn't, he won't be able to leave you a neg.

Once the dispute has been escalated, he'll get a strike. It's important that he gets a strike, as if he gets too many, he'll get kicked off ebay and won't be able to mess anyone else around.

  • thanks! I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's two weeks tomorrow that the auction ended. Will wait and see if anything arrives in the post today, and then will look at starting a NPB. If I open this, and he doesn't like it, will he just automatically leave me a neg and nothing can be done?

The thing is, if he'd used ebay questions to contact you, you would have got it in your "my messages".

I don't understand why people e-mail regarding ebay, when there is the messages function.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

He can leave a neg if he doesn't like that you've opened the dispute.

If he fails to respond to the dispute, it will be removed... if he responds, it will stand.

Don't fret too much.. you can always leave a follow-up saying that he stalled for two weeks and never paid.

Thanks, I'm not sure if he'd used ebay to contact me, I think he had, otherwise I'd have got the emails. I've used ebay messaging to contact him.
  • Hi!

I've opened a NPB dispute, which the buyer hasn't yet responded to. It says to the right of the dispute, that I can close the dispute for several reasons if I wanted to, such as

' You and the buyer are satisfied

    - You don't want to communicate with or wait for the buyer

    - You both agree not to complete the transactions

    - Buyer returned the item '

What does it mean if you do not want to communicate with the buyer? Is that just if they are abusive or can I do that now and close the dispute, get my fee's back, and they not be able to leave me a neg?

In your case it would mean that you've waited 2 weeks already and you don't think he's going to pay.

If you close it before he responds, he won't be able to leave feedback.

None of the other options are relevant to you, don't click on anything other than the 'don't want to communicate' one. You should also get your fess back.

Just one point. Which ISP are you on? If its AOLthat might explain any email problems and I believe hotmail is also bad!
  • I use hotmail, but I seem to get all my other mail. And I haven't any messages in ebay, so not sure what's happened. I think there is a bit of a delay in ebay messages sometimes, but I've got all my other ones as far as I know and it's strange that all of his failed.

Shall I close the dispute then, as I've waited two weeks today, or shall I leave the dispute to run it's seven days, for ebay to close it? What's best to do? I've never had to do this before. Are thre any comebacks to it? Once the dispute is closed am I ok to relist the item?

I think a tick appears to show you you can close it...? Once that happens, you're good to go.
