I need a new router. I have a desktop, netbook and ps3. I will use the netbook all over the house and garden. The ps3 and desktop are situated close to each other in the same room.
Any suggestions on what to go for please?

What's up with your old one?0

Would this be for DSL or cable?0

also, consider 2nd hand, especially if you want to be able to tweak and/or monitor your connection and speed. Something that's compatable with DMT or Routerstats... so things like netgear dg834gt, D-Link 2640B or 2740B, speedtouch 585v6 or below..

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Assuming you never had a free one, ask Virgin for a free one, they will say no, but with a bit of persuasion (loyal customer, retensions) may relent.!!

I recently got a Billion BiPAC 7800N wireless router/modem etc
Read many reviews and it got pretty high if not full stars.
It replaced a complex Draytek and D-link router into one unit and the main reason to change was like you, I wanted signal around the house but also in the garden etc.
This thing did the trick. I recently had my house renovated and whether it was the extra beams or red-brick...something swallowed up the signal and this thing sorted it out.
I'm on ADSL but this supports both ADSL and Cable from memory so it might be worth reading up on it - is a bit pricy but you get what you pay for0 -

If you persuade Virgin to give you one of their new Netgear hubs, you'll regret it! Avoid like the plague!
I recently replaced an old Belkin with an Edimax and I'm delighted with it. There are definite advantages to choosing your own kit, even if it costs.0 -
You replaced a belkin with an edimax, so where do Netgear Routers come into it, and why would the OP regret it?!!
