    Sorry but if you read the post just above yours, you would see that he is having problems connecting it to his pc

    It's a Via Live model. Can't do a manual back up as the Tom tom is not seen as connected by the pc (this is where the Win 7 problem comes in). I see others have had the same problem, they've managed to get around it by switching to an xp pc but all our machines are win 7 now so that's not an option. Thanks for the links all, wish I'd known of the site in molerat's link before I'd bought the thing. It would have altered my choice without doubt.

    Apparently a common known problem with some models and Tomtom say this is down to Microsoft and Win 7.

    This was a 'by the by' for me anyway, the other issues were annoying me more tbh.
