Help needed changing mobile provider

My contract is due to terminate in the next few weeks and i'm looking to upgrade to a new sony ericsson K800i. I've been on the blower to my current provider (vodafone) but they don't seem to be too bothered about losing me after 4 years with them?!

I asked for 400 xnet minutes any time and about 200 texts. They told me that this would cost about £35 + VAT a month! I then tried to start a wee bit of negotiation with them to see if i could get a few months half price but they wouldn't do it - and that was their retention dept.!

Anyway, think it's time to move on to a new provider as i'm sure i can get a better deal than that.

Can anyone help me out? Are the 'claim-back' deals the best at the moment?

Hitman, My wifes 18 month contract recently expired (200 mins, 250 txts £25p/m). My recent vodafone experience goes like this
    • Upgrade department - Says to keep my own handset to get half price line rental which will be £22p/m for 9 months then £44 p/m for 3 months. Bargain NOT !
    • I offer to cancel my contract
    • Now speaking to cancellations and the offer is slightly better. £39.99 for the phone I want, £27 p/m with 200 mins and 250 txts, 18 month contract !
    • Still not happy and he states thats the best I'll get. I ask for PAC
    • Next day, head office phone me and tell me they want to keep my custom
    • They offer me 200 mins 250 texts for £20 p/m, a phone of my choice for free and only a 12 month contract
    • Sorted

I was fully committed to cancelling and going o2 but was happy with the vodafone outcome.

Thanks for that tonydee. I ususally go through that process every year to get the deal I want but this year it didn't work. I got to the stage where I had asked for my PAC code and the retentions dept. had phoned me back. I told them what i wanted, they said they would call me back with an offer, and then nothing - i didn't hear from them again!

Think i'm just gonna bite the bullet and change provider. I've already got my PAC code so i'm half way there - wish me luck!
