  • what do you mean by "quick start up" and also "if he goes on fully" you haven't explained problem very clearly.
  • Its the HP quick start where it doesn't boot up windows 7 but allows you to look on the internet and view content on the hard drive. When windows 7 is booted and he tries to connect to the internet, it says its connected but it comes up as no internet access. Also theres a little yellow icon with an explanation mark, on the internet connection icon.

    HP quick start
    You mean Splashtop?
  • My son is going to type now as it may be better if he explains; i have looked at the feature and it is called HP quick web. The internet works on quick web but when windows 7 is booted it says "connected" but also says no internet access. If it helps the model is a HP Pavilion DV6-3032SA

Same thing - the manufacturer of the machine simply adds their own branding to differentiate it from the competition.
  • Great its his dad here again, we,re going to have a look in abit at the link you gave us hopefully we will be able to sort it out, if not ill pop back on later. As i say im not great with pcs and my son is doing his best so we,ll give it a go. Many thanx
  • We have tried all of them and we are none the wiser. When we go onto network and sharing center it says we are connected to the network but where it says access type it says "No internet access". Also when we run trouble shoot it says the folowing "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding". But doesn't show any solutions.
  • You say there is a yellow triangle in the sys tray, guessing it says 'limited or no connectivity'.

Firstly, check your router: do u have an Internet light? Is there any other device connecting successfully by wireless? If there is another device connected successfully, you know thatnthe router is working and that there is no fault with the wireless on the same.

Can you connect with the Ethernet? If you CAN then you know the router is working ok. That then means the prob is justbthe wireless connection. If u can't connect by eth, then you need to ring your ISP as there would appear to be a prob with connection with router; always try a reboot of the router FIRST as it may just be that the router hasn't picked up an IP.

Okay, so let's saynit comes down to just wireless; 9/10 times customers calling me with your issue have simply not entered the network key correctly. It will be case sensitive, so try a reconnect. Clear out pref networks FIRST : go to network n sharing, manage wireless networks and remove everything in there, even if it does show your current ISP

Try putting the key on again; be careful and it should do it...I'm not suggesting anything about checking your ip settings as this is a new outer and you should have 'obtain an ip address auto' already set...unless you've been messing around.:rotfl:

Give this a go anyways...usually works

If you are viewing this through the same broadband connection as you are trying to connect the HP to, then you know it is working. If not, then that may be where your problem lies.
I would concentrate just on getting an ethernet connection operating first, it eliminates a few options when compared to wireless.
Boot windows 7 with an ethernet cable plugged in and run the command window (press the start button, type cmd in the box that says "Search programs and files", then press the enter key, if you're not sure how). Then at the C:\....> prompt type ipconfig, press enter and tell us what response you get, you're looking for an IP address listed under Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection heading.
That will tell the people on here if you are getting a connection and is a good starting point.

  • Reading further...if you can connect ok with your puter, then this is pc specific to this pc only...not much point in calling your ISP then if that's the case.
Tbh, I'd refer you to Manufacturer...it now sound like a possible issue with the drivers...you could try updating those...go to device manager, network connections and then drivers tab...see if it can update gem from files on the pc...if it cant, it would suggest connecting to the Internet, which is exactly what u can't do...so back to the shop u bought it from then...
