I did it, i set up another bank account, My direct debits will transfere on 01.06 and in six weeks i will get £100 bonus for opening the account.

Thanks MPGSheep for the info, I have a spreadsheet, Will just need to modify it for 2 accounts. I will be happy once all my DD's have been moved and i can see the account running smoothly.

I also now have £40 in quidco which was for a pet insurance i took out in Dec, I find with Quidco that it is best to forgot about the cashback earned so far as it can take ages to get paid, but its nice when if finally does.

I have £300 in the holiday pot and have been looking for any money off vouchers for attractions near the holiday park, only 4 days till we go.

Oh and we have started a days out club at work, We went to Longleat last week and because we group book and car share it brings all the costs down, Total cost of the day out (including a packed lunch) was £45 so not too bad.

After the holiday i really need to start focusing on the NSD's as i have got out of the habit and could be saving so much more!

We got back from holiday on Friday, A bit sad that i spent the whole budget but i managed to get the kids a pair of shoes each at an outlet store using some of the holiday money so its not all bad.

Payday tomorrow, Cant believe we are nearly half way through the year and im still keeping up with the overpayments. I should also break though the £80k barrier, feels like its taken forever to get to this point.

On the down side my washing machine finally gave up last week, its been on its last legs for a few months, we bought it over 10 years ago so its done well. Still debating if we should buy a new one or just get a second hand one as i am hoping that once the mortgage is paid we can finally have a kitchen extension (from shoebox to an actual kitchen) and will then get an intergrated washing machine.

Mortgage OP of £800 sent today, Balance as at today £79747.12 (before OP applied) - Might go below £79k after OP is applied.

Finally decided to buy a new washing machine, shopped around for 3 days and found one for a fair price, I put it on my CC as i have just got the bill so wont have to pay for it until my next bill.

Not very well today, Had to have a tooth out yesterday but it broke at the root so i now have to go back to see a surgeon -The funny thing is when the dentist told me what happened the first question i asked was how much would the surgeon cost, should of asked how much pain!

Now that the holiday is over and my car has an MOT for another year its time i started tightening my belt so the challenge of NSD is back on, managed one on Monday but had to pay for a prescription and dentist yesterday.

hmmmm, I sent the payment on Tuesday from my new Santander account but as yet it has not reached the Mortgage account, It said up to 5 days so there is still time but im slightly worried, So annoying as my OP's sent from Nationwide were instant and showed in the Mortgage account within an hour of sending. Will make sure i sent it from NW in future as im loosing out on 5 days interest.

Does anyone else send payments from a Santander account - does it take this long??

Washing machine is being delivered tomorrow, good job really as i have a mountain of washing that is trying to compete with Everest!

Just received a £25 boots voucher that i claimed from the CC points, That should cover nappies and toiletries for the next month. I also had a voucher for £10 off an online shop which is being delivered tomorrow, That helped keep me under budget so i have another £25 for the pot, I need to try so save £200 to cover the CC bill for my washing machine, does not need to be paid till end of June so i have 4 weeks to save.

Must give the house a spring clean this weekend seing as Spring is nearly over!

    Hi Emsky,

Just read about your buying a new washing machine - my parent's MW has broke and they need a new one too. Would you care to share where you got yours from as i'm about to help them find a new one at a decent price if I can.

    Many thanks !

    Hi Linz,

I bought a INDESIT - IWE7145 as it has a time to end of wash feature, i need this as im in and out all day so its easy to decide if i have time to wait for the wash for finish. It was cheap at Dixons which supprised me -£229 , I also went via Quidco so got an extra £5 back.
They had free delivery but only if you book it several days in advance.

It was quite daunting looking around as i found that some machines would be cheap in one shop but others could be more expensive in the same shop so dont expect the machine you like to be the cheapest in one shop just becuase a different machine was cheapest in that shop (iykwim)

Oh and i found some shops do price matching so if you prefer a certain shop call them and ask if they can match another shop which has it cheaper.

Ok panic over, payment has now been applied to the Mortgage account, New balance is now.................................£78977.77

Finally far enough below the £80K mark that i know im safe from that pesky interest pushing it back over!

Right - on with the match to sub £70K - Let the battle commence :-)

Ohh, just worked out that if i can get to £66K it will be 50% of my original Mortgage - Maybe that could be my next target

Wow suddenly the determination is back to what is was in January, Reading everyones diary has certainly kept the motivation going through the hard months.

Spent the last week at home after my minor op, Did not go to the car boot but at least everything is ready when i do go, Not sure weather to go to one of the smaller ones or wait till next months big boot sale again. Spent the last week checking over all my finances.

Have been saving money from my shopping budget each week and yesterday i did a tally up, Its been a weird month as i changed my dd from one bank to another on my council tax and for some strange reason they decided to recalculate my bill which gave me June off and reduced the rest of the payments by £20, It does mean that i will no longer get the usually break in Feb and March but i figured that by using the June payment to OP now it will save me interest on the months up till Feb when i would normally OP.

With the June payment and saving from my shopping budget i have £250 in the OP pot already, June is also the month we get our yearly bonus, I will have to make the most of it as we change bonus plans after this one to a plan that the rest of the company is on and is notorius for paying zero year on year. I was also on Maternity leave for some of the time so i am only expecting 50% at max.

Plan for July is to sell my car boot stuff and put a few more items on Ebay.

Off back to work today, At least its only 2 days to the weekend!
