Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 26th Dec. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning
Well, Christmas day was a success. Lots of gifts well received and food cooked and eaten. Leftovers everywhere. Once again a day full of excess.
2 kids working today. One at Mc D's and the other at Eden Project. Do we really need to go to either place today?
Cold snap is coming to an abrupt end I see. Rain and gales tomorrow followed by 3 days of fog. Lovely:(
Sunday so its church day and then around my parents for late lunch.
Have a good day....

Glad you had a nice day
I've been a bit out of the loop recently, what with work being crazy and trying to plan a wedding (in under three months total  ). I hope everyone has been keeping well and you all had good a good Christmas
OS wise, we are still house hunting, my flat is a still a tip. My sister bought me new baking books for Christmas, so I might try some baking again. I have got out of the habit of fancy baking recently, but I quite liked the marzipan beetlesShe bought me the cake pops book too, they look very very sickly though. I finished all of the laundry, so am frantcally trying to dry it over every surface in the house.
I've started on wedding things - we are deliberatly keeping it simple, but it is still being a pain to organise everything; in particular the paperwork has been dreadfully complicated - and I now have bits of paper in four different languages :rotfl: OH needed a certificate of no-impediment that is correctly legalised; we have the certificate after duelling with the German authorities; but he was missing the Apostille so had to fly back. The venue are being wonderful though - I think they are used to international bickeringIt was easy to do here, but getting anything formal issued in Germany is a whole different issue
I have finished the maquette of my headpiece, have failed to find a dress so far but the mSe'r in me is off look in the Debenhams sale some time next week. We are having no speeches, no cake (I have point blank refused lol!), no bridesmaids, no table favours and no disco and the venue is doing the rest lol, so I don't think there is much for me to to do to be honest
have a good day all, cel x

Morning all
Thinking of all those people who are sad, lonely, ill or not able to be with their loved ones.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas day, was a better day than I could have hoped for, had a really bad couple of days on Xmas Eve and the day before, was really not in a good place, had some much needed support from two of my closest friends, and I can't tell you how much it helped, they really helped me through, thanks so much ladies. Feeling somewhat calmer now and know that I must organise some counselling/help in the New Year as these problems need to be addressed not just covered up and then re-surfacing at a later date. Have already made a few mental adjustments and although it's hard know I have done the right thing.
Went to mum and dad's yesteday for a couple of hours in the morning, so was able to see my bro and SIL, was great to see them, hoping we may go back today so can see them for a bit longer before everyone starts going home over the next day or 2. Xmas lunch was lovely, one of my better efforts, am somewhat surprised as was in such a state for the couple of days before, thought it would be a disaster. Needed to dig deep for some inner strength and somehow managed to, not quite sure how.
Today is going to be quite chilled, will just potter about at home and get ready to go away, if we don't go to mum's. Would like to get the house cleared up a bit too! Once we've been away and come home on New years day will then start to get stuck into getting myself sorted, and doing jobs that I have been putting off.
New Year new start and all that!
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning - we survived and enjoyed yesterday and I hope that others did too.
Too much chocolate
Not enough Dr Who (though the SJS adventures had him in too)
Sufficient alcohol
Now for a rest.

Morning my lovelies
Didn't have time to post yesterday but suffice to say lots of pressies (I had a new phone), lots of lovely food cooked by my mum. Still full of snot and coughing like mad. Kids both still got this cold virus as has H so whilst we're not laid up in bed we all sound quite "juicy"
Can't believe we spent most of yesterday morning putting kids presents together, sticking sticker on stuff etc  Not good when they are busting a gut to play with stuff
Plan for today is to go over to my brothers house at some point. Kids will get a kick out of playing with their cousins. Other than that not much else going on.
Can't believe it's all over, H was already asking me if we're taking the tree down next weekend :rotfl: Lets bring on the New Year, fresh start and all that
Hope you all had a lovely day yesterday and that Father Christmas was kind to you
nmlc - I hope the New Year will bring some support for you x
NPM - Hope Noah enjoyed his low key Christmas and that you and H did too x
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a great Boxing day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

Good Morning All
Had a nice quiet day yesterday, dinner was lovely. Worked some of the calories off playing Just Dance 2 & the Michael Jackson dance game! Suffice to say was aching a little this morning.
Today have all my family coming over, am doing bubble n squeak, pigs in blankets, cold meat pickles etc. Have a loaf in the breadmaker now.
Glad to see everyone has had a nice time so far, need to make the most of the day - back to work at 2nd job tomorrow - every penny counts:o
(((hugs))) wherever needed, have a lovely Boxing Day all.x0 -
Morning All
Hope everyones day went as planned. We had a lovely day although DH is now full of cold. Family party at sisters finished quite early lots of tired people, not that I'm complaining, we had all had a lovely time.
Loads of leftovers here today and enough tins of biscuits to open a shop. Planning on a very quiet, restful day just chillin' probably in pjamas for me.
Have a great day whatever your plans.

Our xmas day was just another day--in fact it was more fraught than ever due to my daughter getting upset about a present she shouldnt really get!! because presents arent given til New Year here.--i will severely contemplate not giving her anything because of her actions!--she donned the Muslim headwear and broke her mother's heart.---we werent amused!
A rainy day today but no real plans--just to watch football on tv and relax after working yesterday. i have just had a bowl of porridge which my wife sourced from an organic shop at great expense--1,50 for 500grammes--is that expensive??--Turks think oates are only eaten by horses!--my wife ruined hers by putting yoghurt on it!--she will make it only for me in future!
Right i hear a cup of tea being stirred----a good boxing day to all of you and may your kids batteries last the rest of the weekend so you dont need to go to the shops!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
