We were pretty organised on most things but think we'll be better organised on Christmas cards, or the lack of them next year. We'd printed off all the labels and then realised that many of the recipients were on e-mail, and we got rather confused. I suspect that some people ended up getting a Christmas card with our annual letter enclosed, and a duplicate by e-mail. Next year, with postage going up again in April I'll make an early list of everybody who's on e-mail and contact them that way, to avoid duplication and confusion.

next yr i'll make sure our bigger fridge is here beofre xmas , not arriving 2 days after, lol.

Were really struggling with a small fridge( half fridge freezer size) and family of 5, we eat alot of fruit and veg. but didn't think about dates and our new tall upright fridge is comign tuesday, lol.

our day went really well, but i certainly need a bigger oven. a double oven with only 4 cooking rings is just not big enough. however i managed. but my goal is a new cooker before next crimbo, our family is growing so will be worth it.

:rotfl::rotfl:They always have two bags of giblets do turkeys, one each end of the cavity.

You do think they would put a sticker on the outside tho, considering quite a few people make the same mistake, it would make sense wouldn't it?
Thanks bluebag I did not know that turkeys had 2 bags of giblets..i was so pleased that i even remembered to remove one....dunno if it had anything to do with the plastic bag of giblets in the turkey but my meat thermomemter blew up as well, the metal parts were all fine but the clear part where the dial is blew up like a balloon,
So next yeart as i said, its back to turkey crown...will used digital food thermometer after cooking, and I will remember to cook the pigs in blankets (and not leave them raw in the fridge)and serve up the baby potatoes that i found cooked, but forgotten about in a pot at 11pm;)

Here is mine... as someone posted earlier ... try and save throughout the year a bit more. I always do mine in November (not that I have loads to get) but may start in around October (or whenever I see a bargain ...) ..

Have a lovely day everyone ..:T

I'll move this to the christmas Board where you're bound to get more replies :)

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. We have come to the conclusion that we are going to have our Christmas meal on Christmas Eve from now on, we are not a particluarly "foodie" family, and have decided that Christmas Lunch is a disruption to our day!
This is what happens in my Mum's house and it's great. It means she can relax on the big day and we just eat left overs and small food. :)
  • I'm not doing it.
    The cards drive me nuts.
The whole thing is too commercial even if you are trying to keep it simple because the shops are full of people going mad so you can't even do your normal shopping.
I am not doing a traditional dinner either.
I seem to do Christmas because I think others expect it.
I have enough toiletries to last 5 years and half of it is going to the charity shop.
I do enjoy the peace and quiet when out walking in the countryside and I think I'm going on one of those solitary retreats.
Oh dear I sound a right old misery.
Think I'll go on Grumpy Old Women.

We had company on Christmas Eve this year so all crisps, cakes etc were opened then. They went home before Christmas lunch which was just for 2 so no big deal. Not many leftovers now and we get back to normal quickly, which is how I like it!:D That'll be my plan for the future...
