Domain Name Registration

Hi guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I wasn't sure where else to post.
I've recently created a website with the site builder Moonfruit. It's a straightforward service, and works well for me with a few decent features and allowing me to bypass any HTML or coding which I simply haven't the time to learn.
I want to register a domain name so I'll have a .co.uk address. I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way to go about this? I simply want to point the .co.uk address to my Moonfruit site.
Thanks,
Jay.

Well I was looking on moonfruit site, I would imagine it be as easy as logging in to you account and ordering a domain through your account, This way the nameservers etc are automatically registered to your domain.0

I use https://www.1and1.co.uk as their prices are very competitive.
All you have to do is log into your account when you've chosen and paid for your domain name and in your control panel you can choose where you want your domain name to point to (the moonfruit url that you want to hide).
As simple as that.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

I did a bit of research after getting a quote of £10.99 for 2 years registration from Moonfruit, and apparently the domain service they use (Gandi) is awful. So I'd rather not use them (and it seems quite pricey anyway).kitschkitty wrote: »I use 1and1 as their prices are very competitive.

Thanks! They seem pretty good, cheap too! £5.48 as opposed to Moonfruit/Gandi's £10.99 for 2 years, much better

I've used 123 reg a few times and find them very good, I'm using Go Daddy atm which are good too but US based, depending on your business and prospective market I would also think about buying a .com rather than a .co.uk if your looking at the US market.Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I also use these for .co.uk sites (you can get cashback from Quidco/TCB etc) - then use godaddy for .com etc as there are always discount codes flying about.

I use
123-reg
Thanks for the advice!I've used 123 reg a few times and find them very good, I'm using Go Daddy atm which are good too but US based, depending on your business and prospective market I would also think about buying a [dot]com rather than a [dot]co[dot]uk if your looking at the US market.
The domain I wish to purchase has already taken a [dot]com, but I'm not bothered really as I only want a [dot]co[dot]uk as my website is an online portfolio I'd use to link to prospective employers
(and I prefer [dot]co[dot]uk's as I'm a UK based individual).
It seems to me that 1and1 are the cheapest so far! I think I'll bite the bullet and go for them, unless anyone else has any further advice?

If you use most other domain name providers, depending on how it's set up, after the user types in the domain name and hits Go, the domain name in the address bar of the browser will change to the Moonfruit URL so the user will see where your site is hosted.
You can go direct into the Moonfruit server if your domain name registrar is willing to let you change the Domain Name Server A-Record and you're happy to do a bit of technical fiddling. Instructions are on the Moonfruit Support - Domain page.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

I panicked for a few minutes there! I just signed up to 1&1 after kitschkitty's advice, but I managed to find the DNS settings on their user control panel and I was able to 'point' the domain to my Moonfruit site
perfect!
Thanks for all the advice guys, you've saved me at least £5+ :T0 -
