Help - cannot connect wireless internet

I'm at my parents for the holidays and they have wifi access, as do I. my problem is as soon as I connect to their wireless router it disconnects me and says its user action thats causing it not to work. Could it be because at home I have cable internet?
I'm going mad already without my emails and haven't even been here for 24 hrs!
Is there something I need to change when not connecting via virgin cable?

You need to set up a new wireless network as per your OS & the parents router.Running your parents broadband set up CD should do the trick.0
