Bt Linesaver offers customers a "saving" of £39.60 per year if the Linesaver fee of £119.88 for 1 year is paid upfront. Their usual monthly line rental is £13.29, equating to £159.48. However, if the line rental is paid monthly, and the consumer opts for paper-free billing, a monthly discount of £1.25 is applied to your bill. This means the line rental is effectively £12.04 per month (or £144.48 for 12 months). BUT, if you pay the new Linesaver fee of £119.88, the monthly discount of £1.25 is terminated. The actual yearly saving of "Linesaver" thus becomes £0.80 x 12 = £9.60 and NOT the advertised saving of £39.60. Food for thought???

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I am very disapointed with BT, it was not fully explained to me that i needed an internet phone to recieve free evening and weekend calls. i phoned to complain and was told i would be refunded £5.00 back that was on the 1st of December 2010. i have checked my on line account and my latest bill states appox £45 while by bank account states i have been charged £48.22. !! Poor service,
my last internet provider was "Take Take"!! oh sorry "Talk Talk" after spending £50 on phone calls to them to recover money they had taken from my account for no internet service , my bank refunded me all that they had taken + the Phone charges i had incured, what is it with these internet providers ?0 -

Many subscribers have the 60 mins unmetered calls (hate that word free, it's for the thick and gullable) without the need for an IP phone.0 -
Yes, FOGmum26 certainly appears not to have understood what she has signed up for.
One of my elderly relatives has the Unlimited Evening and Weekend calls plan for nothing (by agreeing to a renewable annual contract).
I have the (standard) Unlimited Weekend calls plan for nothing on my PSTN line but I also have an Unlimited Evening and Weekend calls plan for nothing on my BT Total Broadband VOIP 'line'.

Not exactly sure where your £0.80 x 12 + £9.60 comes from?
The loss of the paper-free billing discount comes to £15 so the saving of £39.60 becomes £24.60 not £9.60. ( i.e £144.48 - £119.88 = £24.60)0 -
