Are O2 trying to pull a fast one

Seasonal Greetings to all

I was wondering if you guys could help, i got a 12 month simplicity contract with o2 in july on what i was told was

600 mins
Unlimited txts and
500mb internet use to which i added a £5 500mb bolt on

but now o2 are claiming that the original 500mb was never in the contract and i only have the bolt on as internet use, but i have went close to 1gb on a few occasions and i have never been charged or warned for going over my limit.

thanks in advance for your helpful responces!

  • O2 changed the terms so that everyone now gets 500mb internet where as previously it was unlimited.Your contract should be £20 a month in total of which £15 would be for the texts and 600 min and £5 for 500mb internet unless your on a special deal.

If you go over the limit now you will be charged where as last month you wouldnt have.
  • Gavsterchef, how much are you paying a month, £20 or £25 and do you know the full name of your tariff (it'll be shown on your bills)?

If you are paying £20 it'll be 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500MB data, but if it's £25 then you most likely be getting 1GB of data. The text messages regarding going over your allowance only really started a month or two ago and the warnings and speed restrictions only started at the begining of this month.

This is incorrect. Your data allowance depends on which tariff you're on and which bolt ons you have on your account, if I recall correctly you can have a maximum of 3.5GB using bolt ons. Customers who signed up for unlimited data before the 24th of June (or around that date) and haven't made any tariff changes since then will keep their unlimited data until they make some sort of account change.

There is no overage charge for going over your data allowance, at 80% of your allowance you'll get an SMS message and then at 100% you'll get another message and your data will be throttled to 13 kilobits per second.
