My Wireless keeps getting disconnecting

Hello All,
Firstly please accept my apologies if i have posted in the wrong forum as i couldnt understand the right place to post this, if it was techno stuff or Internet access.
Anyways, I recently have bought a Wireless cctv camera and with its transmitter and have found that my laptop cannot find my router when the camera + wireless transmitter is on. It was just last night that after 6 hours of playing around and checking online with a lan cable direct from Virgin Modem i could try to find out.
Is there a way to rectify it. I have a netgear router on Cable and Virgin broadband. What would be the best solution to try.
Thanks and regards
merry Xmas

You may have to try another camera or go wired. In the mean time download and install on your laptop a program called inSSIDer, see what channels are being used and then set your router to a spare channel as far away as possible from those being used.0

Try channel A on cctv, and channel 11 on router!!

Hello, Can you please tell me how can i change the cctv to A please. Cant see anyway of doing it.
Thanks0 -
there is usually a 4 way switch for channel abcd, the router can be checked in the config screen from a browser!!

Thanks guys, still cant get it. I have managed to change the channel from the router login screen but my cctv wireless receiver has no option of channel selection. It just has a power on/off and 4 buttons to select cam 1-2-3-4. Thats it. Any idea chaps.

I've got a funny feeling you're having quite a common problem.
Your new camera, if digital and networkable, probably has it's own IP address. By default this might be the same IP address (looks like 192.168.0.1) as your wireless router/access point. There can NEVER be two devices with the same IP address.
So the resolution should be to TURN OFF everything except the camera, then if possible manually plug it into your computer (wireless if necessary). Then find a setting that allows you to change the IP address to something like 192.168.0.100. Your problem should be resolved.
Do let me know if I've got the setup completely wrong, just felt like quickly answering a question! :-)

Hmmm, Its a good suggestion Chris, but my camera is no IP but a wireless one, wireless i mean as a transmitter. My bet is with 'Inner zone + Closed ' as I think its the 2.4G wireless signal thats creating the problem, but im just held up with how to get rid of this problem

Thanks for confirming the setup, I had a look at the spec now and can see it's an AV type, rather than IP type.
So just to confirm, your wireless laptop connection to your router is lost when the new security camera is turned off. The new camera/receiver has no adjustment for frequency.
So, I think I would next suggest looking at changing the frequency your router users (the Netgear device you mentioned). To do this you will need to connect to it with a network cable (or 'ethernet' cable as it's also known), as you will be changing the wireless settings.
Once you've done that, open your preferred web browser (firefox, internet explorer, chrome, etc.) and access the control panel of the netgear router. If you don't know how to do this, you will need to type in something similar to "192.168.0.1" (without quotes) into the area that says "http://www.yourhomepage.com". It may be a different combination but the "192.168" will remain the same. The last part could be "1.1" or "1.254" or "0.254".
Once you access this area it may ask for a username and password, hopefully this hasn't been changed from the default, which is normally "admin" and "password", or "admin" and "admin" (username/password).
You should find an area that relates to the wireless settings, and where to change the channel ("frequency").
May the wireless force be with you!If someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. It's just a nice thing to do :-)
