sound in radiators, pump constantly on?

TBH I can't even see the lever. I had to take about 10 random photos to get a view of the underside of the valve.
So you think it may be this lever on the valve that is sticking? (Not sure what you mean by 'the head'?).

If I were to move the lever left to right a few times (presumably with the boiler off) does it matter if it ends up in a different position, or will it just spring back to where it originally was?

I've managed to look at the lever on the valve properly now. Should it be in the same position all the time?
It seems to be on the far left near to 'auto' wording and sticks out, pointing downwards.
It doesn't seem to be stuck as it will move if I 'jiggle' it.

If it's taken you 3 weeks to get that far, then I suggest you get a plumber in. It should be on 'auto' and the valve opens and closes as required by the system.

Thanks for confirming it should be on auto. I'm just trying to establish the cause so I don't get stung by a plumber trying different solutions at my expense.
