Credit card solely for flight purchase

I have never used a credit card. However, I can see the advantage of buying flights with a credit card, as I believe you are better protected if the airline goes bust.

Not knowing much about this, what are the issues I should consider in choosing a card that I might only use once or twice a year for such purposes? Ta.

Not always. It depends who you paid, for example if you bought through a 3rd party, ie a travel agent, you may not be covered. See here...

Avoid one with a dormancy fee.

Even though you may not have used the card each month you should still check the monthly statement, looking for fraudulent transactions.
