Post offices are open on wednesday. All payments are automtaic so regardless if there closed or not they will still be sent.

Yes I know they are, but if all government offices are closed until the 30th, the authorisation for the run for the 29th would have taken place today. They can't authorise a run for the 29th if they are on holiday until the 30th!!
  • they can pre-authorise a run
payments duw on 29th will be paid on 29th,those due on 27th and 28th(both bank holidays)will have been paid by now

It can also depend on when your bank updates overnight. Anyone due benefit on Wednesday and who banks with the NatWest should find the money is in their account at 2am tomorrow (Christmas Day) morning (though don't hold me to that if it doesn't go in!). Anyone banking with the HSBC would find the same payment goes in during the early hours of Wednesday morning, or at least that is how it would have worked a year or so ago.
  • I cannot understand why there are these problems with giro cheques being received late.
Why aren't they posted say a week early, but the date on the giro means that it can't be cashed until the due date anyhow.
There was never a problem with the old system of payment books. You just cashed each voucher at the Post Office on the due date. And they call what they have now - progress!

I know, they can't be enjoying the festivities. Besides which, the shops are closed so how are they thinking about spending money.?

I certainly didn't worry about money going in my account on Christmas Day morning (2.30am, 3.00am, 5.45am) - I was still hung over from the party the night before!!, Hic Hic !! Next Wednesday - yes.
