Three mobile - cancel new contract due to lack of service

Has anyone else been able to cancel their Three mobile contract due to lack of signal?

I received my phone today and it doesn't work as there is only 1 bar of signal. I haven't used it for anything other than to try to receive a call to see if it worked.

I did ask before I bought it and was told that if it didn't work due to lack of signal, I could return it within 14 days for a full refund. Have been on hold to them for 1/2 hour tonight when they said they would look into whether I can cancel, after 1/2 hour they told me that the cancellation department closed either 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 hours ago.

Sounds like you bought it online. Normally the DSR rules would apply but with three once you use the phone it's considered that you have used the software and as such the DSR is void.

Unfortunalty Three read these DSR rules very narrowly so you need to wait to say what they come back with.

Who told you you had service and did you get it in writing?
  • I had my 3 dongle contract cancelled after three months as the signal was no good. It took hours on the phone to the technical team telling me to change my computer settings. I followed all their instructions but it was still awful. I kept asking them to cancel the 2 year contract and in the end they admitted defeat. I have to say though that I now have a 3 mobile phone and there is no problem as I guess they now have another mast.
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.

    Hi

If you have a look there are other posts further on this forum which say that they have cancelled there contracts due to lack of coverage. This is due to Three turning off the Orange 2G "backup" in that area due to the 3G RAN share that they have with T Mobile.
