Can I sell a holiday to someone else if i don't want it?

Hi, i'm quite new to comping and had heard that if you win a holiday but can't make the dates or don't want it, you can give it or sell it to someone else?? I always thought if it was won in your name then only you could use the tickets/holiday vouchers?
Hope someone can shed some light on the subject.
Merry Christmas all!

Most are non-tranferable so I think you'd find selling one problematic.0

Have to agree with weeowens, the T&C's usually state the prize is non-transferable.0

I personally wouldn't enter a comp with a prize I couldn't use or one of my family/friends could use, but that's just my opinion. but I can't see it being allowed for a holiday that you've won. and really entering them to just win and sell doesn't appeal to meBestof2013-AcerLaptop,years supply of Lindt chocolate,Family to Spain,£500,13 bottles of Wine,iPhone 5,2 night island break,Pedal Bike&Helmet,HuntersWellies,TomTomGPSWatch,3 bottlesVodka

I won a trip to La Tomatina but couldn't accept it because it was due to leave within two weeks of the notification date in 2009 and couldn't get the time off so I asked the promoter to redraw it so someone could enjoy it. They seemed happy to do this.
As Weeowens says the trips are typically non transferable and I personally don't enter for things I don't want to win.
Happy Comping!:beer:Thanks to all who post:j

Most holidays have 'non transferable' written in the terms (actually its the same with most prizes) so unless you have an identical twin or a lookalike who is willing to buy the holiday and you would trust with your passport (I don't codone this btw!) then no you wouldn't be able to sell it.
I can't see why people enter competitions for the sake of winning, it really is a waste of a prize when hundreds of other would genuinely love to win.Comping wishlist for 2017

I think the important thing is not to be too judgemental.
I notice Fairywings86 has only recently joined. I remember when I first started comping 4 months ago I entered anything and everything. My first win was a Gtech cordless sweeper (which is still sitting in its box).
Now I only enter things I want to win. But just yesterday I had a signed pennant from Ipswich Town turn up. I entered the comp to win a signed football shirt but instead I won the 3rd place prize.
All circumstances are different and although I only enter comps I want to win I also know that some people enter comps so they can sell items for whatever reason.
We all have our own reasons for feeding this crazy addiction of ours. I would like to hope that its a genuine mistake and if the op entered with the intention of selling, then now that they know thats not possible then it won't happen again.
More chance for us lot that need a hol.0 -
In my understanding they are non transferrable (according to t&c's anyway), I've been comping many years and never managed to win a holiday yet!0

I have been entering holiday comps for a 'family of 2 adults/2 kids' thinking that I could give (not sell!) it to my brother and his family
Should I stop bothering then?0 -

It will depend on the Ts and Cs of each specific comp
However, I don't think I've seen any holiday comps which don't clearly say that the prize is non-transferable
There was someone posting on here a couple of months ago - he'd won a business class trip to the US for 4 people and was trying to sell it. If I find his posts I'll update mine on whether he was able to our not
** Update - had a quick look and can't find his posts (mind you, they could have been deleted as we're not meant to sell prizes to other compers which was basically what he was trying to do)

You would usually have to be one of the two adults (leave the sister-in-law behind).
Sometimes you can pay to add extra people so you could all go for just one adult fare.1
