No wages for xmas

I'm writing this with tears in my eyes...
i started working in sept..love the job and everything was fine..
Was due to get my monthly pay yesterday(early for xmas) checked the bank and nothing.. let my manager know and they had no idea why.. checked again this morning and still no money... manager spoke to payroll and found out i have been overpaid since sept so i have no wages to pick up..also january will be recovered.
the payslip /wages etc are hard to workout so i thought it was all ok .
No-one had let me know anything. i have now used all my overdraft to buy christmas,my car tax is due ... really disappointed with employer... is there anything i can do and still keep my job?

If it's there mistake maybe they will let you have a small advance. Could you ask them for overtime too so that the overpayment is paid off quicker.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Have you asked your employer if you can continue to get the pay but a little less each month until you pay the owed amount off?0
-
asked for advance but they said as there is money stillowing they can't. waiting to hear if they will take rest of payments over a couple of months0

I don't agree with them making deductions with no notice or discussion... but on the other hand, if you have only been there since September and they are recovering all of December and January, you must have been MASSIVELY overpaid for the first three months. How much are we talking? It shouldn't be down to you, but how did you not notice the discrepancy?0

I didn't notice, neither did my manager . it was someone in payroll
comes to over £1200 apparantly.. had no notice or paperwork....0 -
they paid you 1200 quid too much and you didn't notice.... honestly i find that hard to believe. and on a new starter i would be recovering the money quickly as well. as to be blunt, i would think your integrity is in doubt.
sorry to play devils advocate0 -
Yes it is awful If its a mistake why the hell didnt they ask earlier? And why leave you with no money if they asked for it back fair enough but not all at one go. Deplorable of them to do this.0

I didn't realize as i had been doing alot of hours with training and covering etc so not done a week of contracted hours.. i have asked my manager to sit down with me after xmas to work out , hours and wages to date...
this is genuine misunderstanding of it all on my part...
I have no problem about paying any money back, just the way they have done it..0 -

Not many payslips are so hard to read you can't work out what your hourly rate is!Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Surely your employer cant just do this without your knowledge or without informing you in writing that they plan to make a deduction.
What about the fact that this is an unauthorised deduction from your wages ?
Personally i wouldnt accept this !
As far as i know you cant be left without any money , your employer cant take more than 10% of your wages if the amount left would take you below NMW !
Mention this to your employer to see what they think and dont panic as there are some employment solicitors and barristers who will read your post on here and give you some good solid advice. The loopy one has gone :j0
