GPS and GPRS are different things, gprs is a data connection and GPS is a how the phone knows where you are and doesnt use any data in itself unless aGPS is turned on.
it could be the game that is using the connection there may be a setting in the game options to only use 'offline' mode.
I would think that either that or another app that has to constantly use a data connection is the problem, perhaps something like google search, mail for exchange/email, or even something like ovi maps downloading the maps.
if you open the list of running apps (I think it is click and hold the menu button untill the list comes up) is there anything open? and what? one of them is likely using the connection, and closing them will likely stop it.
and you can always end the data connection by holding the 'red hang up' button until it asks if you want to end the data connection, then selecting yes - in fact try this tip first and see if it the connection restarts.
or if it is aGPS which is the problem, in your settings you can try turning off assisted GPS (this way it will only use the satalites to find where you are the general place where it will be is settings > general > positioning> positioning methods.0
