rentmeanycar.com and rentmac.co.uk ARE SCAMS

Options
There has been a few posts and tweets about this! Do not book from these people!!!! IT is a scam. If you have already paid them, register a complaint with the police and tell your bank immediately. If it was the last payment you made you might be able to get it reversed!

Good luck!

Yes I want everyone to know this is a scam they got me for £9960.I ordered a car and it just never arrived. There office is a virtual one. The pictures on there website are from a guy s site I know I have 5 phone numbers and a fax no one answers or they just fob you off with excuses like bad weather etc etc.I have reported them to trading standards and the met police who say they have loads of cases against them.I cant believe they scammed me but once I heard there advert on national radio i stupidly thought they were legit. Please tell as many people as possible about this but I think they've vanished as no one answers any of the phones now!

  • I’m sorry to see my thoughts confimed on here. I actually called the company back in early November to enquire about hiring an Aston Martin for a friends wedding next March.

I thought the price was good and free delivery sounded even better. I email a few other car hire places and they couldn’t match the quote (although didn’t warn me about rentmeanycar.com, as i did mention their name).

The full hire for what i wanted was £1300 and i literally had my card in my hand ready to pay but then the guy on the phone said he would need the full balance AND the £5k deposit. I thought this was odd and said why would i pay over 6k for a hire car which I’m not going to get until March?

I ended the conversation and decided not to go for it as it sounded fishy. I looked into them a bit more and realised how much advertising they had done. I thought to myself there is no way they can make a profit hiring the cars this cheaply with free delivery and copious amounts of advertising in national & local newspapers.

This is when i posted a thread on the pistonheads forum saying that i thought it was a scam and had anyone had dealings. My post was taken down as the admin didn’t want to get into naming and shaming. It's a real shame because my post was on the front page of google when i made it so anyone who would of looked would of seen it and saved themselves all their hard earned cash.

I would be interested to know how this pans out.
  • Sorry to hear all the bad stories guys.
We are a reputable prestige hire company and new this was a scam the minute we see and heard it. The quotes they were giving were impossible and made even worse by the claims of 'free delivery'.
They even had the cheek yo use a couple of our images so we contacted them about 5 weeks ago threatening them with copyright infringement, to which they didnt reply , we then paid them a visit as they proclaimed to be in the same building as us in Mayfair, only for it to turn out as a virtual office.
We posted warnings on Piston-Heads but the posts were removed??
We even warned our local police about 3 weeks ago!!
As a rule of thumb, always stick with companies that have been around a while and do your research, we just hope that some of you reclaim your lost money.

Always remember -if something appears 'to good to be true' , then it nearly always is!
  • Hi all, I think it is very unfortunate that it took this long for rentmeanycar to be uncovered, and I am alarmed that their website is functioning. I also run a car hire company based in the same building specialising in the rental of Mini Coopers and I was extremely surprised when a customer contacted me saying rentmeanycar had quoted them £14 a day for a new Mini Cooper. We consider our prices to be very competitive, but £14 wouldn't even cover the insurance cost for that vehicle. I knew immediately that it was a scam, and when I investigated I found that the building management had never heard of them - they do not even have a virtual office, it seems that they just copied our address since we are an established car hire company based in Mayfair.
When I contacted them questioning their business, it turned out that they are based in Surrey and clearly after speaking to them, it was obvious they knew nothing about car hire and I was convinced they were running a scam. I did warn the customers who contacted me, however unfortunately it seems that many fell victim for their too good to be true offer.
I'd be interested to hear of any progress on this matter if anyone hears back from the police.
    Thanks, Adel

Adel, there's another thread on this forum about it 6 pages long. It's a scam. They're based in West Sussex.
