Tesco Price hike rip-off

I purchased a 3 litre bottle of Tesco's own brand Strong Dry Cider today and was amazed to see the price had gone up to £3.49 from £2.90 yesterday, an overnight increase of over 20%.
This is on top of the price rise of 5% bought in undercover when the government increased tax on strong cider which was then rescinded, Tesco however, only removed part of the price increase, resulting in a price rise from £2.76 to £2.90.
This means that the price of this product has risen over 26% since 28/03/2010.
I shall be checking my till receipts VERY carefully in future to see if Tesco try sneaking any more extortionate price rises through.
I'm filing a customer comment, (complaint), relating to this, I'll update with details on any response I receive.
Cheers,
Nick

Whats Your Excuse ?0 -
Maybe it was underpriced before.
Tesco, and any other seller, are allowed to charge whatever they like, aren't they?
If they believe the market will stand this increase, then why not?0 -
My part of the market responded by not purchasing from Tesco's but from Sainsburys instead at £3.12 a bottle.0

Good for you.
and now learn that a shop can charge you whatever you want for cheap cider or anything else. they all do it.. daily.

I'm more concerned that its your second bottle of cheap 3l cider in just as many days.0

I dont see issue, so the cider has gone up, i dont know if you have noticed but other things have gone up as well, tesco hardly sneaked the increase in. Tesco is a business and the aim is to make money, they sell things which you then buy. I got a moneysaving tip for you, why not make a bottle a week, that way you would have to spend so much a week on cider0

So how long have Tesco not been blatently displaying the price on the shelf ticket?
*Prices sometimes go up shocker*0 -
They are only getting away with it because shoppers in the UK will spend whatever it takes on food. Nothing, I repeat nothing gets in the way of people overfilling their stomach.
This will continue while they still have money to spend(which thanks to the CONservatives will not be for long).0
