Multiple Halifax Reward accounts for one person?

Options
Is it possible to have more than one Halifax Reward current account for one person, ie myself?

I'm just trying to figure out the limits of the potencial moving money around scenario to secure £5 reward each month.

I have of course read a couple of people on this forum getting stung for moving around £200 loads of times, but I should be able to manage £3000 liquid cash, ie moving £1000 from one account to the next each month, to hopefully avoid it look quite as suspicious.

If you could let me know, that would be great.

Thank you :)

Officially, no (see the T&Cs). However, some people have got lucky!
  • OK, I don't want to do anything that's not above board. Next time I'm in town I might just ask in the branch and see what they say - I'll come up with some stupid reason like an account for paying bills or something :)

In that case you need to stick to the limit for new reward accounts which is one in a sole name and one in a joint name. A Halifax Clarity Reward Credit card might be a way of gaining another £5 per month but only if you spend £300 per month in purchases on the card.

Halifax used to allow someone to open up to 3 reward accounts before they changed the T&Cs. I haven't seen any reports of them enforcing the new T&Cs and asking those with 3 to close 2 of them.

Yes, I opened 3 Reward accounts at launch. I then, in late 2009, re-designated my existing 'High Interest Current Account' a Reward account meaning I now had (and still have :)) 4 Reward accounts in my sole name.

In the OP's position (assuming they already have one sole account?), I'd consider opening a 'standard' current account (same T&Cs but no monthly funding requirement and no free fiver) and then, a short while after, attempt to re-designate it a Reward account in branch...hoping it was simply a key press!

I've just found this googling and thought it was better to post here than start a new thread. Only just realised terms say 3 (well as I read on this thread - I didn't see it anywhere when I applied earlier)

I have one and a Clarity card (upgraded to Clarity Reward). As a student there is no way I'm consistently spending more than £300 a month on it, £3600+ a year. As far as I know there are no loopholes to get round that, as refunds mean higher targets the following month.

So in terms of getting a fiver the clarity card is pretty useless... So I applied for another Reward Current Account instead and put my clarity card in to link it to my online banking.

It said it had been opened and gave me an account number and sort code - so will it just appear in my online banking (I'm assuming tomorrow after tonight's update, as it's not there yet?) or was that still provisional? Guessing that they also can take it off me (if I get it) even when it's been opened, if they notice I have 2

Hello, how did you get on with this application?

It appeared in my online banking yesterday.. You have opened a new account, do you want to add it to your online banking etc, then it had been added. I clicked and and my guaranteed overdraft was only £0 (it's 5k on my other account). Didn't have any money to put into it, got paid last night but now it's vanished..... cue a letter from Halifax saying I broke the terms blah blah blah....

Don't think it will reappear anyway, we'll see!
  • I have a Halifax Reward account, and I also have one though Bank of Scotland - I had the BoS one first, and I opened the Halifax one about 18 months ago.

I don't know if applying through Bank of Scotland could be a loophole to getting a second account?

I thought reading from other posters, that it would reappear later? Or maybe that was the 100 opening balance i cant remember tbh.

Have you called? How long till they increase overdraught? Mine shows £100 and was like that 2 month ago back.
