  • My signing on day is today, and I was told that my payment would be in already (today) and it's not in.... tried phoning the Job Centre but it's constantly busy, not even getting the usual "on hold" message.

Wonder what's gone wrong at their end :-/

  • Our child tax credit normally comes by cheque. Should have received it yesterday at the latest today but nothing has arrived. So will probally not get it till the next post after the holiday when ever that is.
Did have a letter about paying all payments in to the bank after the new year. Checked to see if that has happened but nothing has gone in to the bank either.
  • We should have got next Tuesday,s(28th) payment in bank today and my bank has just updated its accounts and it has not gone in.

I bet there will be many not happy people about this.

    What could have gone wrong?

so Does this mean that we will now get it late next wednesday?

Familys need this today not after christmas.

Yes you should have had any payment due on the 27th, 28th & 29th in your bank today.
If they pay it in today, it will credit your account on the 29th. However you won't be able to telephone anybody as all civil servants take 3 days off for Christmas. They will be back at work on the 30th

Giro cheques are currently taking up to 8 days to be delivered. Can't comment on HMRC position, but DWP have had problems with the post collection and sorting. They all go out 2nd class and as you know with Christmas, it is taking a lot longer to get through.

Although they have tried to post early, payments for the 30th & 31st aren't being posted until tonight. Given the holidays those giros are unlikely to be received before the 4th or 5th.
