You're a right trailblazer Viva. Mobile in 1992?! I was only 11. Which is weird as most 11 year olds probably do have a mobile nowadays.

I think it is known as early adopter in Marketing parlance, mug to the rest of us money savers as they tend to cost a fortune :) . BTW cable/ digital on the list above is a must have because the govt have insisted.

Wasn't that early an adopter, or I'd have worn red braces and walked around stating "Greed is Good".

Now I look back, I think I was a permanent early adopter (mug) in my 20s :D

I don't think there was a single technology trend I missed - from Psion organisers to Sony minidiscs, I was a total sucker for every one of them.

    Guilty as charged:o

First video player - 1988 and before my parents.
First DVD player - Erm.....can't remember! I know I held off for a while as I thought it was a stop gap measure until data recording on a hard drive came about.
    First PC - 2001
Sky - 1991 and an absolute godsend when I was pregnant and couldn't sleep.
First mobile - Think it was about 2001 or 2002 ish.
First CD player - 1988, I purchased it for my then fiance for £199, A Pioneer seperates.
Broadband - 2004 (I think), could have been early 2005.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

God, I remember having a sony minidisc player. I thought they must be the future, then MP3 came along.

This was the track from the minidisc advert on telly:

Had their moment at the end of the 90s. Like mini-computer discs, you could fit around 20 songs on them and they were re-recordable most of the time. And they didn't skip like CDs.

They came out, everyone thought they were ace and then five minutes later MP3 came out. But people didn't have broadband when the first MP3 player came out (1999? 2000? Something like that) but when people started getting broadband (seems to be 2003/4 from the comments on this thread) it killed off minidiscs. I liked my player when I had one though. Used to listen to it on my walk to and from uni.
