I'm new! and have a question about washing powder!!!

Hi all

I have been a "lurker" on here for quite a while and have finally plucked up the courage to say hello.

I also have a question for all you clever people - I currently use persil liquid capsules (only one per wash not two as they suggest;) ), but want to try a mix of half powder and half soda crystals - would this work and can i put it straight in the drum as my drawer has a tendency to get mouldy if used too often?

Hope you can help

Lou x

    hiya lou

I dont know about washing powder & soda,

but you can usually just pull the drawer out & wash it in the sink. Kim & aggie did it last week, with washing powder of all things!

Yes the mix will work well. I'm not too sure about putting soda crystals directly onto the washing though. Perhaps someone else will know the answer to that one.

Normally I put my powder etc as far forward in the soap tray as I can to make sure that it all gets washed away properly. If you still get stuff left behind check your instruction book for how to take it out to clean. :)

  • Thanks Lynz

I pull it out and wash it regularly as it goes all black and mildewy, but have just stopped using softener which has helped so wondered if i could avoid using (and therefore cleaning it) all together?
  • Thanks Squeaky - I have put soda crystals in the drum before and it seemed to work OK but wasn't sure about the powder as i've never used it - always used liquid capsules but these have gone up in price so want to try powder.

one thing you can do is run your machine on empty, but pour half a bottle of white veingar in the tray. that clears all the gunky stuff out of your machine too :)

Me too! But I put mine straight into the drum with no problems. I use 50mls for a full load and 30mls for a half load.
