Floyd did a chili cook off against the mayor of a Texas town & was told that proper chili was made with beef pieces, not minced beef...I'd chop it small & add it towards the end of cooking to heat thru.
I always add a mix of Worcester sauce & Tomato Ketchup to my chili, seems to enhance the flavor.

What's wrong with the odd cold roast beef sandwich? That could make a lovely supper with something like beetroot and horseradish on it with a nice salad or something on the side.

My philosophy when cooking or preparing meals is to keep it simple and not be tempted to muck about with things that are perfect the way they are already just for the sake of it. I'm also a bone-idle.

ho ho, me too. however OH would not eat sandwiches for tea and i dont fancy that either, i had my heart set on a chilli

I make rissoles when I have a joint left over. Delia has a good one that all my lot love!

:T thank you hilstep - haven't thought of or had rissoles in years - I used to love them. Just had a look at the recipe & I suppose there are different ways of making these as I think my mum used to use cooked rice, presumeably instead of breadcrumbs.

Will def try these with the next left-overs. :)

    .

It's funny, as much as I love beef & lamb, I really can't abide them cold - actually, same for pork, come to think of it.

I do like a chicken sandwich though and for me, Christmas night just wouldn't be Christmas night without a cold turkey sandwich :)

Great idea, thank you for the inspiration; I have a big chunk of beef in the freezer which I didn't slice up before freezing because [STRIKE]I'm a lazy old trout[/STRIKE] :o, I mean I ran out of time and I was wondering what to do with it if I defrosted it.

Too much for sandwiches or to chop up in rice etc but it would do perfectly for a really meaty chilli so OH will be happy :T

Same here,I find the beef tends to go tough when it's cold...

No, I don't roast the garlic, and I just use beef mince rather than venison, and no bacon. No parmesan biscuits either.

It makes absolutely loads, and I promise you it's worth it. Double up and you can freeze lots and lots.

That sounds more in my line, when I read the recipe 600g Venison
I thought no way dont even know where to buy it.

    Afternoon all,

Found some kidney beans in my cupboard that need using up. That says chilli con carne to me. Defrosted the mince. Now can anyone recommend me a nice chilli con carne recipe for tea please?

    Thanks in advance
