Just got home to find a book, hidden behind my bin! Apparently its my free gift for joining the thriller book club. Lovely. Only problem being I havent joined any book clubs!
It came in an opened box with a ton of paperwork that I havent yet looked at. Any ideas where it came from and what next??

Hi I recieved one of these books. I did not join the club I rung the customer service and told them to take my details off their data base and they sent me a returns label to send the book back. Not heard from them again0

I had a book from these this morning as well, that I hadn't requested.
I have e-mailed them asking for membership to be cancelled and a pre-paid label to be sent but not had a reply yet!0 -
Make sure that you haven't agreed accidentally. it may have been embedded in T&Cs somewhere (which people normally don't read!).
If you definitely have not joined, the you can treat it as unsolicited mail and do with it as you please. Read it, flog it or give it away. You could even inform the bookclub and ask them to collect it (at their cost) but you are under no obligation to do so. If it is unsolicited and the firm asks for payment, then they will commit an offence.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
I too found a Thriller & Mystery parcel waiting on the doorstep recently, but had also had one from Mango Book Clubs at the same address. I paid the postage for both of them to go back and have heard no more. I wondered if I had accidentally joined these clubs recently when working my way through one of those Clash Media 'surveys' which makes you go through page after page of offers. I remembered clicking on Select All (only once, your Honour) just to get out of there.
Have now unsubscribed from Clash Media and would never go near them again.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0 -
It is the case that clicking through some sites is activating membership of these book clubs. That being the case, it is doubtful whether the books can truly be classed as unsolicited.0

Indeed, though there may be othe protection to stop you being charged. It would all depend on the details, and far too lengthy to talk about here!Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0

For those who have received books, did you take up an offer on pigsback a month or so ago to get 1000(?) points. This would explain the "mystery books" turning up. Thing is, you will have technically signed up for this and they are notoriously difficult to get rid off, and can cost more than the miserly amount pigsback was offering.

As this is a growing problem with threads popping up every week, it would help if you could summarise it at least or link to somewhere that gives the information.0 -

I had one of these books too, looked on saynoto0870.com, found landline number and rang them. They agreed without a murmur to cancel my subscription, and said I could keep the book.
No, I haven't used Pigsback for well over a year.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
