Shocked at seller response

XL can be 38 inches, it depends on the make of clothes, i always ask for the chest measurement, because, although my husband isn't fat, he's got a wide chest, so i get a 46 inch chest width, sometimes it ends up an XXL, but again, ask for the measurements. The seller can't be blamed for selling something with an XL label that is a small fit. The buyer should always ask for measurements, whatever clothes they buy. A SNAD wouldn't be appropriate. It would only be appropriate if the buyer was told it was a certain chest measurement, and when it arrived it wasn't that size.

xl in a man's item cannot be 38 inch chest, don't be silly. It is the seller's fault, though I see nothing shocking in their response.

Yes they can be a 38 inch chest depending on the manufacturer, Ed Hardy for example are more of a medium than an xl, i'm not being silly, ASK FOR THE MEASUREMENTS BEFORE YOU BUY.

I'm a bloke, take a large, and have never bought anything in that size below 42 inch chest. It's a standard way of selling mens tops. I've never asked the exact measurements. Some fashion items do vary of course. Ed Hardy would not send you a 38 inch top as an xlarge either.
Of course, I'm just a chap who has bought his own clothes for many years. What do I know?

There is no standard sizes in clothes, all manuracturers are different. my husband can be a large, xlarge or xx large, or sometimes he can't fit into any of those sizes because they are too small.

38 is a medium in mem clothes cant find anywhere that a 38 would be classed as XL on a man

  • i see a few people disagreeing on sizing and would like to point out that there can be a huge sizing difference depending on the make.

    for example;

in primark a womens xl is a size 18-20
with nike xl is a 16-18
    bench xl is a 16
tommy hilfiger xl is a 14-16
and with billabong xl is a 14.

i am an xl in primark and its very unlikely i could get an xl from billabong to go anywhere near me.

i know my example is of womens clothing but whats to say the same doesnt happen to mens clothing too.

Because it does't in my experience. A 38 chest is always either a the higher number on a small, or smaller number on a medium. Never seen it on a large never mind an extra large.

Because, except in this seller's view, it doesn't apply. Women's clothing is sized to reflect that insecurity you all have. I remember a friend telling me she was a 14 in one shop and a 16 in another.
Though she knew it was silly, she shopped at the first. My view was if she was that concerned, she should lose weight.
(I'm going to get hammered for this)
