    Oddgy and Pawpurrs .. so sorry to hear your stories!! We may be getting close (ISH!!) to the big day once some documentation is received and agree that it is amazing that an exchange ever happens!! Some unbelievably nasty people around too ... I'm a great believer in "what goes around, comes around" ... may have that wrong but you know what I mean!! Too strssed to get anything right lately!! I know one thing ...I by far prefer my Yorkshirfe Terriers to most people!!
  • Oddgy and Pawpurrs - how awful for you both. I hope you don't lose the house you want Oddgy and that the exchange happens today for you Pawpurrs.

    I promise that if I get into the new house they'll be taking me out in a box as I'm certainly not going through all this stress again.

  • 1998-1999 it took for us to Buy our property and it turned out to be the year where prices just soared. When we lost our 1st place right before exchange we only discovered this by turning up at there EA that was nearly 2 hours drive away, although we knew something was up because we just could not get in contact with the sellers for days at this point. We actually took our Caravan with us and camped up for however long it took....(moving to the coast should be easy....)No. 2 Property was eventually found and already we where looking at £85,000 it was a £80,000 price range when we started out. We had to take ours off the market and relist for price explosion which unless a deal could be done quickly you could never hope to keep up with at that time.. although we had a buyer the 1st week it was on the Market it was an awlful thing to have to do..afterall they had now been priced out...but we needed to harden up it had been our home for 30 years and did not enjoy selling it, loved the house but we had to get out the ratrace area it had become and we had to now buy for more which equals selling for more, we had already 75% packed and ready to move during the 1st time disaster..we must had been so niave to this property...£££££$$$$$....
    So the Rule was made...Any prospective buyers would be told that if we loose our next property and have to pay more for 'like' then our house price would have to reflect that also...........
    We lost the 2nd because of time scale on there part... they felt they needed to put up there price at this point, in our view it was beyond a reasonable amount...the property they where buying had not gone up anyway so greed had got in maybe....Although our 3rd buying attempt had not gone without any heartache it has been worth it because it is as close to ideal as possiblely could have been...we ended paying £118,000 for same size that we started out loosing for under £80,000 in that year..
    Our buyers excepted the 'rule' understanding the price situation of the time and our Sale went through very smoothly, it was sure easier to sell than buy at that time. Mrs H

    Apparantly not happening again today, been told tomorrow,my buyers soliceter causing problems as wants a letter from mortgage company and has only just requested it, so who knows, even tomorrow might not happen, as it happens its totally not necessary either. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • Our buyers accepted an offer of £500. Should be happy but our solicitor has just informed us that someone at the other end of the chain dropped out three weeks ago. Apparently they have another buyer and the mortgage is in place but we now have to wait for searches etc to come back so exchange won't be this week and probably not the next couple of weeks either.

    What next?! :confused::(
