Not many cavity walled houses without it I would have thought. Can give considerable savings on heating bills.

There are lots of council subsidised schemes about - and lots of rip-off merchants. Certainly seek advice on costs from council.
  • Through the EST I found a deal from my Electricity supplier (Scottish Power) to insulate the cavities of a large semi for £149. All the gas and electricity suppliers have to run a scheme of some sort, and most are offering reduced cavity and loft insulation. Powergen, however, wouldn't survey my house as it is pre 1930.

this is interesting as only yesterday i called them and they told me there was no grants available for a working man and quoted me over £300 for a 2 bed semi whereas powergen quoted £230......
